Music: The Mud SE – farewell forest

The Mud SE are one of the most exciting groups from London. They have released some stellar projects in the past including SUNGAZER, Home By The AM and today, before tomorrow. Their most recent project is titled farewell forest, a 11-minute project featuring production from forrest green and words by bayley.

It’s a warped, lo-fi project that sounds like something off a MIKE or Medhane project. Soulful, dense musically and textured. The incredible wind instrumentation on “3to5″is stunning, with subtle guitar leads adding depth to the instrumental. bayley’s incredibly personal lyricism makes it such a relatable listen. The production at times is suffocating just like on “headed back home” where the wailing, drowning vocal sample brings an unsettling, sombre feel to a record that really brings out the best in everyone in the group. It’s a fantastic little project, and one I hope acts as a stepping stone for bigger things to come.
