Louisville, Kentucky producer Dr. Dundiff has released a brand new self-titled album with his group SGJAZZ. The whole album was recorded in the musician’s studio room in Louisville and brings to life a jazzy sound that is heavy in percussion and drumming, perfectly marrying hip-hop and jazz together in an engaging and soulful way.
SGJAZZ kicks off with “Make Me Feel” featuring Berlin-based singer J.Lamotta, who’s soothing and incredibly soulful voice adds such a beautiful texture to the record. “Monday” is a playful track, with Rhodes keys bringing such an angelic tone to the track, as with a lot of others on this album. The claps on “Like Glue” are hard hitting, as synths and Rhodes keys bring the soul to the record, with hypnotic basslines being the groove to the record. “On My Mind” features K.Raydio bringing amazing vocals, as the bassline and Rhodes keys are stunning throughout. “Wishing Well” starts off with a soulful, thumping drum melody, as it breaks into a frantic drum and piano piece. “Last Sunset” ends the album off with another beautiful, soulful piece, with an incredibly beautiful melody that is drum and bass heavy, giving a groovy, soulful melody that I just love. Overall, Dr. Dundiff and his band have released a stellar album that’s incredibly dense, textured and soulful. So big up to him and all musicians involved!
