Fatima – Yellow Memories

I fell in love with Fatima’s 2014 debut album Yellow Memories instantly upon first listen, and it’s easy to explain why. The soulful and jazz-heavy compositions, incredibly gorgeous vocal performances throughout and the confident energy she displays throughout makes it such an incredible experience. Listen here.
Dego & Kaidi – EP2

Had to include the incredible duo again, with their second 2015 EP being as good, if not better than their first self-titled project. To me, the funk-heavy melodies and soulful vocal soul samples makes this record a more engaging one than their first, and it really is a true testament to their talents as producers. Listen here.
Byron The Aquarius – Leaving This Planet EP

Byron The Aquarius’ debut Eglo Records release is an exciting one. The house-jazz producer comes through with the heat on this 4- track EP released in 2017. There are just so many highlights on this short project that I had to include in on this list. Listen here.
K15 – Sunbeams

K15 has become one of my favourite producers over the last couple of years, mainly due to releases like this. 2-step rhythms, with eclectic synths and grooves that are bound to get you moving on the dancefloor. The Latin-inspired melodies throughout are gorgeous too. Listen here.
Shafiq Husayn – The Loop

LA-based multi-instrumentalist Shafiq Husayn came through this year with a stunning hip-hop, neo-soul and jazz record that features so many highlights and exciting collaborations. Jimetta Rose, Bilal, Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak and Robert Glasper among others are part of this tremendous album, and it really has been on repeat since it came out. Read my review of it here, and listen to The Loop here.
So there we have it! 10 releases that have defined Eglo Records to me, personally. I would have loved to include Fatima’s And Yet It’s All Love as well as Steve Spacek’s Natural Sci-Fi among other releases, but when I limit it to 10 it gets difficult. It comes to show how consistent Eglo Records have been with their releases. So once again, I wanted to thank them for all the music they have put out over the last decade and wish them another successful 10 years!
