A few thoughts: As far as fun, hardcore punk albums go, This Is All We Ever Get may be the best release of the year yet! The Buffalo, New York five piece create heavy, melodic and infectious riffs that create so much ferocious intensity, it’s impossible not to feel enamoured by their intense energy. There’s a very Rage-type energy to Lexi Reyngoudt’s voice. There’s so much emotion drawn out into this loud and abrasive vocals, with heavy guitar riffs that are incredibly dense and hypnotic. The opener “Landslide” is proof of this, while the wild and screeching guitar riffs of Joe Morganti and Donny Artur, on “Big Picture” bring such intensity to the album. It fits perfectly with the intense drumming of Dan McCormick and the rhythmic and groovy bass of John Vaughan. “Downfall” is another great track, while the lush synth melodies of “AIATB” are absolutely stunning. “Rat Race” is an intense political track about the constant pains of being in the capitalist rat race, where it’s one against all. “The Difference” is another menacing track, as Lexi sounds pissed the fuck off, while “Cosmic Groove” has rumbling basslines and guitar leads that explode throughout the heavy intense drum beat. “Running Off” closes the album off with a thumping menacing energy, with wailing, explosive guitars and a hard-hitting drumming that is intense. The album is short but punchy, bringing a fur-ball of bass growls and guitar roars, menacing drumming and vocals that sound almost desperate, but with a feeling of rage and revolution. This Is All We Ever Get is an exceptional debut album from a band I’m so excited to see grow in years to come.
