Why you should listen: NAH is an experimental electronic artist, spending his time between Philadelphia, US and Antwerp, Belgium and i creating some of the heaviest, most overwhelming and disorienting music for a while now. TOTALLY RECALLED is his new body of work, a 10-track 24 minute project showcasing his talents as a producer and arranger, with some incredibly dynamic drumming and percussion, taking direct inspiration from footwork and juke music, as well as incorporating vocal samples and synth leads throughout that animate the album with colour and a vibrancy that is just so infectious. From the soul sampled and chopped opener “Please Allow Me To Begin Again” and its incredibly frantic an d rhythmic drumming compositions, to the high-energy synth-led closer “People Lie and Suck”, NAH is able to create a sense of deep urgency with his music. The drum-led “Cluttered With Details of Two” is intense, while the subtle vocal samples and soul of “I Don’t Think This Will Ever Be Over” make it one of the more colourful and emotive moments on the album. The guitar distortion of “Izzy Juno” deviates from the intense drumming but gives the album a welcome break from the live drumming and programming. “Precog Was Wrong” is another high-energy moment on the album, with percussion and some subtle wind instrumentation throughout the track as well, and “Hallucinated Several Times” is incredible drum-led track with its intense compositions make for an engaging and heavy listen. TOTALLY RECALLED is an incredible body of work with compositions that have a sense of urgency to them, with frantic drumming and percussion throughout that make it such a great listen.
