Collaborating with the likes of talented artists Tirzah, Klein, Babyfather, Kwes and Nadeem Din-Gabisi, to name a few,
and that’s no exaggeration. The Lewisham musician, vocalist and DJ has been an important part of the South London music scene, crafting eclectic, ambient and fascinating sounds that are both hypnotizing and utterly beautiful. Conduit is the artist’s debut album, a chilling body of work that sees him experiment with darker, moodier electronic soundscapes, marrying that with blunt, spoken word poetry that channels his reflections on past experiences and the ever-changing environment around him.
Tracks like “Etym” featuring Ben Vince, CJ Calderwood and Raisa Mariam Khan kicks the project off with abrasive electronics, suffocating Coby Sey’s vocal performance, with pummelling drums and eclectic synths that sound almost too overpowering. The vibe throughout the album as a whole is similarly dark and unassuming, with techno-inspired cuts like “Night Ride” and abrasive experimental cuts like “Mist Through the Bits” featuring Ben Vince, CJ Calderwood and Raisa Mariam Khan making this a dynamic and musically diverse listen. The project is simultaneously claustrophobic yet atmospheric, with intricate compositions that showcase his vast influences, on an album that is sharp, cohesive and incredibly dense.
