Music: Rome Streetz & The Artivist – Joyeria

Rome Streetz has been killing it this year, releasing a stellar hip-hop album in noise kandy 3. He is back again, with a new album. This time it’s a collaborative project with producer The Artivist, and it’s titled Joyeria. It’s soulful and hard-hitting, as Rome Streetz’s aggressive flow makes for an engaging listen.

After the funny, skit “Intro,” the album kicks off with “Run Da Jewelz,” a crazy track featuring string and vocal samples that sound incredibly soulful, making it an animated soundscape for Rome Streetz to talk about life in the streets, talking about his lifestyle and experiences, drugs and other things. The album pretty much continues with the same type of vibe, with tracks like “Die4U,” “Snow Beach,” “Part of my Religion” and “Discretion” featuring more colourful, soulful and upbeat production. “Alpha Bay” features a dark, eerie and gloomy beat reminiscent of some DJ Muggs type production, as Rome Streetz flows effortlessly over the menacing beat. “Vagabonds Dont Die” sounds like some James Bond type beat, with striking, sudden string samples that add intensity to the track. It closes with “Santeria,” a beautiful track with a gorgeous, piano-driven instrumental, as Rome Streetz’s lyrics about his own lifestyle are vivid and intriguing. Overall Rome Streetz is 2 4 2 on releases in 2019. Both noise kandy 3 and Joyeria are smooth, soulful, textured and menacing projects, with the latter one having amazingly animated production from The Artivist that really brings the story to life. Definitely recommend!
