Music: Subculture – I Dream of Everything

London-based producer Subculture has come through with a brand new mixtape album titled I Dream of Everything. With a plethora of collaborations and an eclectic array of sounds, through jazz, funk and electronic music, the talented artist is able to create a memorable project that will definitely stand the test of time.

The project kicks off with “Sugar Castles” featuring Desta French. The slow piano melody throughout is added by keys and a dark, uneasy tone. The vocals throughout are stunning, as the melody becomes more playful with piano keys and basslines. The crazy, thumping beat on “The River Bend” with Rachel Chinouriri makes it a terrific cut on the album, with darker guitar leads and horns throughout that add texture and more dark melodies and tonalities throughout. “Gunning for Fees” features Goya Gumbani, who always excels lyrically and Grand Pax, who’s vocals are beautiful on this track. Tracks like “Privacy” with Cold Callers is terrific, with fantastic verses and a haunting tone throughout led by the moody beat and ethereal synths and vocals. “The Hammer” is more of an upbeat and colourful track, as it features great vocals from Hemi Moore. The closer “Rise No More” is another soulful and beautiful moment on the record, with vocals from Tertia May, who closes the album majestically with her gorgeous voice. Overall, Subculture’s new mixtape I Dream of Everything features some incredible production with a diverse set of features that enrich the aura of the whole experience. It’s diverse, eclectic and highly enjoyable.
