Originally from Lisbon but now based in London, Silvestre has been releasing some stellar music with his sample-based, synth heavy electronic music. He is back with a new EP titled Silvestre Is Boss, and well… the album shows just that.
From the first track “Jumping Intro” I get a sense of what this project would sound like. Heavy in drums and synth melodies, the album as a whole is colourful and engaging. “Lights” has infectious percussion that just hits hard for me, with gorgeous chimes and synth leads that sound ethereal in tone. “Fuego” features more house-heavy grooves with its driving beat and energy throughout. “Paying The Rent” is even more dynamic in tempo, with true acid-house rhythms. “Back To Hometown” is another soulful and dynamic cut, bringing a nostalgic, funky and dynamic feel to the project. With vocal samples and beautiful synths throughout, this might me my favourite off the project. D.K.’s remix to “Fuego” is great as well, as he’s able to bring more percussion to the track and subtle synths that make this more of an ethereal and reflective dance track. Overall, Silvestre comes through with a truly stellar release that showcases his talents as a producer.
