London-based producer Jake Milliner comes through with his highly anticipated new album titled Bernie Says. He has been working on the album for a while, and being a fan of him through some of his excellent production for artists such as Barney Artist, Zilo and Lord Apex, I was excited to listen to this one, and I wasn’t disappointed!
The album kicks off with “Where’s Mozz,” a hard-hitting track with drums and moody, captivating synths that draw you into his world. The keys on “Masterilizer” are beautiful, as the drums again hit hard. His signature heavy drumming throughout is heard throughout the album, especially on tracks like “Perfect Time to Lie” and “Mr. Foreplay,” with the latter track having some funky synths and basslines to complement the thumping beat. The angelic vocal contribution from Bubblerap on “Jack Jones” is absolutely beautiful, as Jake samples Gary Burton’s 1971 classic “Las Vegas Tango.” The smooth, jazzy tone of the lead single “Reminisce” featuring Alfa Mist and Marcus Tenney is another highlight, while “Chauffeur for Some Killers” sounds like some heavy 90s G-Funk production featuring a stellar verse from FUTAGO. Overall, Jake Milliner has released an excellent album with some incredible tracks highlighting his talents as a producer. It was well worth the wait!
