Music: Kaleta & Super Yamba Band – Mèdaho

Brooklyn-based afro-funk group Kaleta & Super Yamba Band come through with a brand new album titled Mèdaho. With intricate, groovy and lively compositions, the band are able to create a fun and upbeat sound, which makes it a highly engaging listen.

The album kicks off with the infectious groove of “Gogo Rock,” with fantastic production and psychedelic guitar leads that electrify the sound of this track, really bringing it to life in the best possible way. The feel-good vibe of “Hungry Man, Angry Man” is incredible, while the passionate and soulful vocals on tracks like “Mèdaho” and “Adjotò” make them standout tracks for me, while the psychedelia on tracks like “La Guele” and “Jibiti” make them such amazing tracks too. Overall, the upbeat nature of this album makes it a joy to listen to, as funk and infectious grooves that this album is able to produce is brilliant.
