Music: Zilo – Gorgeous

London-based singer Zilo comes through with a brand new album titled Gorgeous. This comes almost exactly a year after her excellent 2018 album The Nature Of The Beast, an excellent R&B, neo-soul album that perfectly captured her creative aura with smooth and soulful compositions. Gorgeous continues that sound, with funkier tracks that sound equally as polished and beautiful as her previous music.

10 tracks and 32 tracks in length, this project is full of gems. “Sweet Like” starts the album off with this funk-heavy instrumental that is wonderfully composed, with Zilo’s playful, smooth vocals adding depth to the record. The guitar and synth-driven melodies on tracks like “Get Some,” “Into The Sun” and “Another Round” are ethereal, infectious wonderfully composed. “Wild Thing” is probably my favourite track on the album, with the incredible beat, one which sounds so raw and almost tribal, as synths and electronic effects throughout add to the angelic tone of the track. Overall, Zilo has released a tremendous album, further cementing herself as one of the best singers out there at the moment. Exciting things to come for her!
