LA-based artist Zeroh has been making incredible music for about a decade now, creating some of the most forward-thinking music right now. From hip-hop, to experimental beat music, to ambient and jazz, his discography is varied and consistently crazy. 0 EMISSIONS is a five-part series of the same name originally released in 2016, but re-released now, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate this gifted artist.
From the synth-heavy soulful tone of “Wake n Bake” to the warped electronic madness of “Quincy,” this project has it all. It is a soundscape drenched in varying influences and crazy experimentation. With features throughout including Versis on “Fried Eye 4 the Gemini,” Jonwayne on “Stratus.Quo,” Busdriver on “R U WELL,” and Low Leaf on “SVG.LVR,” the album is rich with different tones and crazy verses. Zeroh’s rap style is among my favourites in hop-hop, as I feel genuine freedom in his vocals, not being afraid of experimenting with his voice, with his lyricism being intricate throughout. Some of my favourite tracks include “Kali.Village” with its bass-heavy beat and Zeroh’s introspective, unique vocal delivery, “mood.” with its gorgeous, peaceful ambient soundscape and “qp” for its sheer experimentation. This is a warped out, unique project as a whole that highlights exactly why I think Zeroh is one of the greats.
Listen to Zeroh’s 0 EMISSIONS below via Bandcamp and don’t forget to support! Released via LEAVING RECORDS. There is a new album incoming and I’m really looking forward to it. Peace to Ras G.
