ILL CONSIDERED are a talented 4-piece London-based jazz group consisting of Idris Rahman on Saxophone / FX, Leon Brichard on Electric bass, Emre Ramazanoglu on Drums/Mix/Mastering and Satin Singh on Percussion. They have released some stellar albums over the last few years including ILL CONSIDERED 5 and ILL CONSIDERED 6. Their music is lively and brings such soul and heart. I can really hear it through their last releases, and this new album isn’t any different.
Recorded live during our tour in the fall of 2018, ILL CONSIDERED 8 continues the darker, bass-driven sound they have become synonymous with. The harsh and almost metal-inspired “Sunday Morning” is somewhat of a hellish, intense composition that brings out heavy percussion and bass, while the infectious groove of “Take your love back home” is a breathtaking track with intense drumming and crazed out saxophone leads. The intensity of “Covertly” and almost tribal tone of “Pork And Pickles” are phenomenal as well. The harsh tone of “Loosing track of objectives” is fantastic, but the manic energy of “Liquid Science” makes it my favourite on the album. “Sorry to hear your parcel didn’t arrive” is a percussion-heavy closer to a project that brings such infectious and almost devilish energy. This project is equally, if not more captivating and energetic than their previous releases, as they continue to show why they are one of the most exciting jazz groups in the last few years.
