New York based musician Mac Ayres has released his highly anticipated new album Juicebox. With gorgeous guitar rhythms and soulful vocals throughout, his talents shine through as he creates a cohesive, textured and layered album that will definitely be replayed for the remainder of this year.
“I Wanna Give Up” features colourful guitar leads and an upbeat tempo, with synths and a catchy beat providing an engaging and punchy and groovy rhythm throughout. This tempo and tone is present throughout the majority of tracks, as Mac is able to beautifully craft gorgeous catchy melodies throughout his compositions. Tracks like “Jumping Off the Moon” and “Saving” are slower paced, with more emphasis on the soothing and emotive vocals as well as the smooth, silky guitar leads and synths that provide a golden, stunning aura to the music. Tracks like “Walking Home” and “Come Thru” with 9th Wonder feature punchier production, providing a head-nod heavy vibe. “Something More” features Richmond, Virginia legends Butcher Brown, who provide a mellow, groovy and jazzy end to the album. Mac Ayres’ vocals throughout the album are sublime, with the overall vibe of the project being super joyful and uplifting. Overall, Mac does not disappoint, and has me looking forward to new projects.
