London-based singer & songwriter Bryony Jarman-Pinto has released her brand new debut album titled Cage & Aviary. It’s a lyrically and thematically personal record that features some incredibly soothing and soulful vocals, complemented by gorgeous percussion and jazzy instrumentation.
This album really exceeded my expectations, as the cohesiveness of the sound Bryony is able to craft with the help of the musicians around her. The harmonious “For The Birds” kicks the album off beautifully as she sings over jazzy and stunningly beautiful percussion and guitar leads. The groove and rhythm of the album as a whole is subdued, as the focus lies more on the beautiful melodic moments that captivate me throughout the 13 track album. “Sweet Sweet” features heavy percussion throughout, subtle vocal harmonies and an incredible electronic effects to add to the poignancy of the record. “Emerge” and “Threads” similarly have some incredible soulful and textured melodies, with keys and guitar leads interlocking to great effect. “Sour Face” has an upbeat, catchy overall melody, with Bryony’s confident and beautiful vocals bringing personality to this record. The gentle nature of her voice can be heard on “Company” and “For The Bear,” as her singing is as smooth as honey, bringing such an emotive end to the album, with jazzy and beautiful instrumentation complementing her vocals perfectly. Overall this album is incredible and makes me so excited for Bryony Jarman-Pinto’s future. A great, great album!
