Music: Barney Artist – Bikes Are Bikes EP

Talented Forest Gate rapper Barney Artist has come through with a brand new project titled Bikes Are Bikes EP, which is the first project he has dropped since his excellent 2018 album Home Is Where The Art Is. Just 7 tracks long, Barney brings introspection with the aid of eclectic production.

The intro “Bikes Are Bikes” is followed up by the colourful, soulful “Leave It All,” talking about love and bringing some personal lyrics that depict his state of mind clearly. “Calm Down” is another upbeat track with a similar lyrical theme of love and dating. “Splash” has a darker instrumental, with moody synths a trap-influenced instrumental. “Pure Silence” features Sipprell, (Check her out!) who’s gorgeous, soothing vocal performance is a perfect addition to this beautiful track. The boom-bap and piano-heavy track is a more personal moment on this project, as Barney talks about his mental health and the troubles he faces being present for people and himself. Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn come through on the remix of “Calm Down,” which is pretty good as well. Overall this is a nice little EP that is a welcome addition to his growing discography.
