Music: Black Milk – DiVE EP

Detroit, Michigan hip-hop legend Black Milk comes through with a smooth and soulful new project titled DiVE EP. I’ve followed the talented musician for years now, having released stellar projects in the past as well as producing for rappers.

From the first listen I can already notice a more polished, 808s driven project. With trap influences throughout, the album has a lot more hard-hitting moments such as as on “Black NASA” featuring Sam Austins, who brings fantastic vocals and add to the synth-heavy and melodic production. Black Milk’s introspective lyricism stands out on this track too, as he continuously proves himself as a capable MC. “Blame” features gorgeous guitar leads and a more boom-bap sounding beat, with Black Milk flowing effortlessly over this beat. “Swimm” features vocal harmonies from “Phil Swish,” as the guitar melody is complements the vocal sample and synth-laden track. The boom-bap energy of “Don’t Say” is absolutely brilliant, while the high-paced energy of “TYME” makes it great for dancefloors. Overall, Black Milk comes through with a pretty great project that continues to show how amazingly talented this man is.
