Music: Waajeed – Ten Toes Down EP

Detroit legend Waajeed is back with a fantastic 3-track EP titled Ten Toes Down. Having covered previous releases of his with 2017’s Through The Wall EP and 2018’s From The Dirt, I was just eager to hear new music from him. And, as expected, he does not disappoint, creating an incredibly fun, upbeat House project.

“Heavy” features Wu-Tang songstress Blue Raspberry under alias Candi Lindsey, who comes through with an emphatic, overpowering vocal performance. Her vocals were in a way looped with the thumping beat and the dynamic tempo of the track, with thick basslines, synths that just sound incredible with the overall rhythm of the track. It really is an exceptional moment on the album, and one which brings heaps of energy. The almost tribal and hypnotic synth-heavy beat on “Deeper into Blue” is perfect, with a playful vocal performance from Candi Lindsey again, who brings such great personality to the track. The thumping beat on “Too Black” is colourful with synths and keys that provide personality to the track. It’s a brilliant way to end this project, and I ‘m super impressed with this project, because it really is a fantastic body of work.
