Manchester-based producer Mecca:83 comes through with a brand new EP titled The Journey. Having reviewed previous albums of his such as the excellent Midnight Radio EP and Live Sketches Vol. 3, I have been anticipating new music from the talented producer for a while.
The project is only 3 tracks long but displays such a rich array of rich textures and layers that make this a memorable listening experience. With gorgeous keys and stunning synths throughout the opening track “The Journey,” he is able to create a moody, ethereal atmosphere that sets the tone for this project. The synths and gorgeous melody and vocal sample “Only You” is a gorgeous, beautiful track that, with beautiful string sections and an infectious groove. The smooth, jazzy finale of the album “New Hues” is a perfect way to end such a stunning body of work, one which I had hoped was longer, but I won’t complain because the music is beautiful.
