Music: Blue Lab Beats – Vibe Central EP

Following the release of their critically acclaimed album Xover back in 2018 (which also happened to be one of my favourite releases of that year), the talented duo are back with a brand new EP titled Vibe Central. NK-OK and Mr DM consistently show us their talents through smooth, jazzy soundscapes that perfectly capture the sound of London. Their new EP does exactly that, and provides some memorable compositions.

“Hi There” features heavy, funky basslines and guitar and synth leads that sound incredibly groovy. The beat also hits, as I find myself bobbing my head uncontrollably throughout this track and the others on this project. “None of That” feature thick synths and deep basslines that are accompanied by soulful guitar leads as well. “Old Times” has heavy funk vibes, and “Vibe Tribe” features Theo Crocker on trumpet, which is another highlight for me. The closer “Lipstick,” features Jodie Abacus, who brings soulful and funky vocals to a track that is full of synths and heavy basslines. A perfect way to end a rather brilliant EP.
