FloFilz is a super talented hip-hop producer from Aachen, Germany and Transit is his brand new album. It is his third studio release with Melting Pot Music, and it is one that is deeply inspired by (and celebrates) the UK jazz and hip-hop scene. With Brixton on the front cover in black and white, FloFilz is able to create a vibe and charm to this album that exceeds my expectations fully as an album celebrating that sound.
Transit features the likes of K, Le Maestro, Barney Artist, Alfa Mist & Biig Piig, who all provide so much depth and texture to the records on this album. The boom-bap production and ethereal keys on tracks like “Hoxton Hoops” and “Telegraph Hill Park” and just so beautiful and layered that it’s impossible not to be blown away by the musicianship and raw aesthetic of the sound. “You & Me” with Barney Artist makes me think that this album would have been even better with more vocal features. It’s just that there is an overwhelming number of talented London-based that could have added to the magical, soulful and smooth sounds of FloFilz’s music. “Bad Self” contains a dope rap sample, while “Tube Trouble” is a jittery, upbeat track dedicated to the life of the underground trains. Overall, this project is dense with beautiful sounds that show FloFilz’s diverse sound.
