Music: Kuzich – Fruit Soup

Melbourne’s jazz and neo-soul scene is among the best in the world. Talented musician Kuzich comes through with a brand new project titled Fruit Soup. It is a stunning body of work that combines warped beats, soulful singing and stellar percussion, all of which make this a soulful and immersive listen.

Tracks like “Closer To You” have stunning guitar leads, synths and keys that are gorgeous, with hip-hop influenced drumming giving this record a such an infectious bounce and groove to it. The same can be said about tracks such as “Another Thing” and “Be Free” featuring Goldman, with Dilla-inspired drumming patterns that are just incredible to listen to. “It All Happens” featuring Lori is an ethereal, unsettling track with synths and angelic vocals throughout bringing a soulful and vibrant tone to the record, closing it out beautifully. The overpowering energy on “By The River,” with its percussion and subtle horn sections, as well as the stellar keys throughout, make it another favourite. This is a genuinely amazing project, so brb while I go back and listen to it again and again.
