Back in 2017, I reviewed a phenomenal soundtrack titled Pretty en Rose OST, composed by the talented Ross Blake. This is what I had to say about the opening track “Ages” –
“The opening minutes of this album are pure bliss. The stunning harp and string-driven start to this album sets the tone for a colourful, animated and monumental 36 minutes worth of music. The vocal performance on ‘Ages’ is accompanied by subtle strings, a powerful bassline, a chorus and drumming which oozes confidence and power.”
It really was an extraordinary surprise to me, as I went into this album with no expectations are came out stunned. Now, the London-based artist has released a bizarre video for the first track “Ages” off Pretty en Rose OST, featuring an elderly woman, legos, a man in a black latex or tights suit and water. I don’t know what to make of it yet, but it’s an interesting watch. As well as the video, an ambient remix from Tom Furse was released for “Ages”. The remix completely takes apart the track, with Tom being able to rearrange it and compose it in his own unique way.
Ross Blake will be releasing a remix album to the original soundtrack titled
Pretty Encore, featuring remixes from Mike Lindsay (Tunng / Lump), Vanishing Twin, PRIZUM, A’Bear, Lone Taxidermist and Tom Furse. All this via Horse Arm Records. I have listened to that album as well, and it’s an eletronic, jazz-filled album that’s beautiful and captivating at the same time. Will get to that in a more in-depth review another time.
