Music: Ella Frank – Kettle (Single)

Ella Frank is a London-based singer songwriter I have been familiar with for some time now through her work with Intalekt, Jay Prince and R-Kay (some of my favourite producers at the moment) as well as my friends over at Rhythm & Reason. Her latest single, “Kettle” is co-produced by Intalekt and R-Kay, and is a beautiful record highlighting yet again why she’s one of the best singers in London at the moment.

They provide a lush, layered soundscape which features slick synths, a subtle but groovy bassline, gorgeous keys and saxophone leads that ooze with soul. Ella sings beautifully over the smooth instrumental, singing “have you got water, in your kettle?” which can be a metaphor for having life, drive and a dense of purpose in your life. Water, being the source of it all, makes it a beautiful, profound and important message to us all. The message could be simpler, but my natural analytical self couldn’t help but dig deeper into the meaning of this record.

You can listen to Ella Frank’s gorgeous new single “Kettle” below via Soundcloud, and don’t forget to support!
