One of my favourite hip-hop duos for real, Pink Siifu and Ahwlee as B. Cool-Aid come through with a new short EP titled Syrup. Having released one of the best albums of 2017 with BRWN and seen them live at the Jazz Cafe opening for The Floacist late last year, it’s always dope hearing new music from them and this new release is some real, soulful and funky lo-fi work of art.
Ahwlee’s production on this project features the usual, sweet and soulful sound that I’ve come to love over the years listening to his music. Pink Siifu kills it as usual his soothing vocal performance and introspective raps that are beautifully enveloped within Ahwlee’s phenomenal beats. “syruphands” and “Howigotover” with Klevah are my favourite joints on the album gorgeous samples that are looped over a bass-driven beat is just gorgeous. Klevah’s verse on the latter track is great as well, with Pink Siifu and Klevah both flowing effortlessly over the groovy track.
Overall man, this project is fantastic. I’m sure this is a taster to whatever full-length project they have next. As a stand alone project though, it is really dope. Listen to Pink Siifu & Ahwlee’s Syrup below via Bandcamp, and don’t forget to support!
