Music: Tulin – Tulin EP

There’s just something about debut projects this year, man. I’ve been left speechless on a number of occasions listening to music, and honest to god the project I’m about to talk about is one of those magical musical moments for me. Tulin is a super talented musician associated with Plus TRBE, having been featured on Jung Mergs’ “Low Tones,” (one of my top 100 songs of 2018) also collaborating with Diamant Ballou who is featured on this new self-titled 3 track project. 

The aura and utter beauty of Tulin EP is captured flawlessly through the angelic, key-heavy and meditative production that sounds so meditative and spiritual in tone. It reminds me of the recent Low Leaf record that came out, which I described as having “some of the most complex, layered and musically enriching compositions I’ve heard this year.” I don’t usually like making comparisons, but Tulin’s music is so musically enriching and layered that it has to be compared with some of my favourite music that came out this year. Subtle harps, slow and smooth synths that are intertwined with her gorgeous voice, and instrumental progressions (such as the futuristic beat on “Lessons”,) that are so carefully arranged that it genuinely makes my jaw drop. From the amazing beat breakdown on “Egodrive” to the gorgeous duet with Diamant Ballou on “Patience,” the aura is just one of beauty and positivity.

I usually wonder whether I tend to write in superlatives with new music coming out, but it’s difficult to contain my excitement when EP’s like this come out. I’m blown away honestly. So please, do yourselves a favour and listen to Tulin’s Tulin EP below via Soundcloud and support!
