Music: Shumba Maasai – AK Sutt’in (Single)

Shumba Maasai is an incredibly talented emcee who is part of the + TRBE label and collective. They have been killing it with releases the last couple of months, with great singles from Jung Mergs and Diamant Ballou. One of the things + TRBE have been able to do as a collective is push the boundaries of what hip-hop should sound like. Shumba’s new single “AK Sutt’in” is no exception.

Produced by MiniGOLD, the track feels angelic in its tone, with synths and dreamy sound effects making it an almost psychedelic listening experience. JaJa Kisses provides additional vocals which really elevates this track into something magical. The tribal rhythms and vocal snippets near the end, in addition to the incredibly gorgeous instrumental progression makes for an epic ending. Shumba sounds menacing on this track, spitting with confidence and a drill-inspired flow. It’s a track I keep playing back simply for its growth and infectious vibe. Big up to the Shumba Bwoy for coming through with an amazing new track.
