a few thoughts: the abrasive, bass-heavy energy slikback brings on his music represents the heavy and disorienting electronic soundscapes that have come from eastern africa via nyege nyege and hakuna lulala labels, to name a few. he makes experimental club music, with heavy, abrasive synths and a cacophonous sound that is dark, overwhelming and fantastic. one follows the same heavy and hypnotic energy i’ve come to love from the talented producer. the warped, menacing energy of the opener “naon2” sets the tone for the rest of the album, and it’s just absolute heat from thereon out. the pummelling energy of “hydraulic” is utterly relentless, while the jittery “radar” is followed by the heavy and industrial energy of “hybrid”. “incercept” has a similar, frantic and relentless energy, while “blue” and “red” have these moody, frantic grooves that close out the project poignantly.
