a few thoughts: kokoroko’s 2025 album tuff times never last was amongst my favourite projects of last year. the textured, detailed and utterly mesmerising project now has a brazilian child in the form of a 4-track ep titled tempos difíceis sempre passam with remixes from some of the most talented brazilian artists working today. the smooth and colourful “da du dah” is remixed by onome and features nyron higor, with a gentle yet dynamic groove. the luedji luna remix of “never lost” is upbeat and joyful, while aleh’s remix of “da du dah” is also a riveting, dymamic cut, with a dub-influenced sound , emphatic vocals and groove that is utterly infectious. “closer to me”, remixed by bruno berle closes the ep out with a sweet, soulful and soothing track, with gentle vocals and a vibrant quality to it that is just perfect. tempos difíceis sempre passam is a stunning extension of kokoroko’s hypnotic sound, with brazilian grooves that are just infectious from start to finish.
