Music: Nardeydey – Nardeydey

Shirley Tetteh is one of the most talented guitarists around at the moment. As part of London-based jazz super groups Nérija and Maisha, she has made a name for herself, really bringing her signature rhythms to record in the most soulful and amazing way. Her solo material comes under the name Nardeydey, and her new self-titled 4-track EP is a wonderfully textured and soulful work of art.

The opener “Speedial” is a groovy and percussion-heavy track, with rhythmic guitar leads and soulful vocals that bring gorgeous, rhythmic vibes. The off-kilter drumming on “Dreamin” coupled with the soulful guitar leads and beautiful vocals. “Slippin” is a vibrant and experimental track with infectious percussion that brings tons of energy and personality. “FreeFalling” ends the project with another vibrant and incredibly catchy cut, with drumming, synths and guitar leads that sound captivating and colourful. The electronic rhythms and electric guitars are brilliant throughout, making it a fantastic closer to the album. Overall, Nardeydey is a terrific new project that captures Shirley’s incredible talents as a guitarist, arranger, composer and all around artist.
