Elkka is a London based DJ, producer and founder of femme culture, a label and collective championing women in the arts and pushing for more female representation within the music industry. It’s an inspiring movement and collective, and I’m excited for their growth. Elkka’s new project is titled Every Body Is Welcome EP, an electronic and dance-heavy project that features some funky synths and basslines that are infectious in their melodies and energy.
“Every Body Is Welcome” is a heavy, groovy and pretty great banger that perfectly encapsulates the raw, inspiring and inclusive energy Elkka is trying to curate. The silky, groovy synths are backed by thick basslines that drive the track forward. The acid house influence throughout the track is present, and the tone and of the track as a whole is what makes it such a great opener to this EP. The hard-hitting “Avant Garde” is pretty menacing track, with heavy synths and basslines that complement subtle percussion and a hard-hitting beat. It’s a truly fantastic track that keeps energy levels high and puts me in a trance. “Compromise … For What?” brings colourful synth melodies and an equally as funky and infectious groove throughout its five minute length. “LVURSELF Interlude” is a slow-paced track, with meditative synths and a hypnotic energy to it. It builds and builds with electronic effects and leads, while having scattered vocal samples throughout. She leaves the best until last in my opinion. “Breathe” is an incredibly upbeat and wildly engaging track, with colourful synths and thumping beat that just leaves me wanting more. It’s a truly incredibly closer to a pretty stellar project. Overall, Elkka really exceeds expectations by releasing a monstrous project, full of absolute bangers and dance-centric tracks that will keep me grooving for a very long time.
