What can I say about the unique and wildly talented Carlos Niño that hasn’t been mentioned before? The producer and arranger has come through with a stunning new album titled Bliss On Dear Oneness, with a plethora of collaborations. As described by the musician, the album is “Spiritual Improvisational / Space Collage Music, full of live performance, excerpted and sampled live performance, and layers of over dubbed, mixed and effected sound energy.”
Most of the compositions throughout are incredibly atmospheric and spiritual. From the raw and nature-filled “Pulsating” with Laraaji, Jamael Dean and Shashidhar to the interstellar “Esssssssence” with Ish of Shabazz Palaces and Jamael Dean, this project really does have it all. Percussion, synth-heavy compositions that take you places. “NewOcean” with Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is a terrific track, with stunning synth leads and strings arrangements that sound rich and incredibly ethereal. “Reverbechosystem” with lasos is fantastic too, with such a spiritual and emotive sound that reverberates beautifully through the speakers. Long story short, this album is a spiritual, moody and intricate release with such tremendous energy and ethereal beauty. Carlos Niño does not disappoint at all.
