Bristol-based producer and DJ Shanti Celeste comes through with a gorgeous, atmospheric new electronic album titled Tangerine. It’s an ethereal, textured and utterly captivating album, with dance-heavy production and synth leads that provide a colourful soundscape for her influences.
The project kicks off with “Sun Notification,” a slow-paced opener with atmospheric and extended synth leads that have vocal touches as well. The mysticism of the music on this first track really sets the tone, but the pace becomes much more dynamic as the album continues. “Infinitas” hits immediately, with a fast paced, rhythmic composition and swirling electronics throughout. The track grows musically as more synth leads are added, and a bass-heavy groove that makes for a funky listen. Tracks like “Aqua Block” and “Sesame” continue with that same energy, with a thumping beat and groovy electronic sound that is perfect for the dancefloor. Tracks like “Natura,” “Slow Wave” and “Moons” are ethereal, almost beat-less, while “Want” features this heavy, UK Garage-influenced beat that is visceral and poignant. Overall, Shanti Celeste has really excelled with this new project, creating a moody yet dynamic album that perfectly captures her influences and showcases the extent of her talents. A great release indeed.
