Music: Gabriele Poso – Batik

Italian percussionist Gabriele Poso comes through with a brand new album titled Batik. It’s a disco-filled groovy masterpiece that is infectious and perfect for the dance floor.

It features 12 tracks of some of the most engaging and wonderfully produced tracks. It starts off with “Batik,” a synth and percussion-heavy house track that has funky basslines and guitar leads that bring incredible rhythms. The raw and rhythmic drumming on tracks like “Xango” and “Africa Linda” are incredible, with the latter track having a pretty incredible grooves with guitar leads and lively vocal performances. The slower-paced tone of “Come Back Home” and “Sunday Morning” are more emotive and slow-paced than other tracks on the album, bringing keys and percussion to the mix, really showing a more emotive and soulful side to his music. “Kumave” and “Lime Tree” are two other excellent tracks that perfectly encapsulate the energetic, dance-oriented and infectious vibe he is able to create with his music. It’s honestly a really well produced album, and one I will definitely be playing again and again for its energy and wonderful spirit.
