Manchester-based artist Layfullstop has come through with a brand new EP titled Cherries. Rapping and singing throughout the 5 track project, she truly impresses with some incredibly soulful compositions and intricate rapping.
“Sounds from the Rainbow” features a smooth beat, with gorgeous keys and impeccable drumming. Her flow is incredible, and her wordplay is on point. “Cherries” has this old school vibe with Dilla-like claps in the beat, as well as angelic keys and subtle guitars that add texture and soul to the track. Similarly, tracks like “23” and “PMT” are raw, smooth and soulful cuts, with introspective and personal lyricism, while “SOS” has synth that are more R&B influenced and bring more of a dance-heavy vibe. Overall, this is a pretty decent project highlighting her talents as a songwriter and rapper. The production is truly wonderful as well.
