Consisting of guitarist Dani Diodato, trumpet player Dylan Jones, saxophonist Ben Vize, drummer Charlie Hutchinson and bass player Benjamin Crane, PYJÆN are an exciting new jazz group with a bright new future ahead of them. After releasing their excellent single “In Search Of The Sticky Side,” the band have come through with their debut self-titled album, a reflective, gorgeous project that captures the free-spirited essence of the group.

The album explodes into life from the get-go with “Nah,” a frantic, drum and saxophone heavy track smooth basslines and an high-paced, dance-heavy tone that keeps the track alive and sets the tone of the album. Their ability to create emotive yet frantic compositions is a joy to listen to. “Free Your Dreams” is a beautiful track with rhythmic, yet heavy hip-hop inspired drums, bringing bounce and infectious energy, while the keys, basslines and the horn sections make this a grandiose, uplifting track. Another emotive and beautiful moment on this album comes with the track “Steve,” with incredible horns, guitar leads and soft drums that add a touch of class and elegance to the music. The tracks throughout really do create a fruitful, upbeat and energetic tone to the whole album, and they have proven themselves to be one of the most exciting new groups within the jazz scene in the UK. Big ups!
