London-based musician WIZE has come through with a brand new EP titled preFORMAT1, released on his birthday a couple of days ago, so a very happy birthday to him. I’ve been following his music for a while, also through his Boiler Room Crowdsourced show. He comes through with 3 great tracks highlighting his talents as a producer and rapper.

“ain’t easy” kicks the project off with keys and a thumping beat, that with its dominant claps, truly sounds like a Dilla beat. He flows effortlessly over the beat, talking about finding love. “too much” is a more dynamic, high-tempo track, with a funky bassline and electronic synths and effects bringing such a dope tone to the record, as he flows effortlessly, at a higher pace, bringing great wordplay. “get down” has an eerier, more menacing tone, with hard-hitting beats and an aggressive flow to bring an end to a pretty good 3-track EP. Big ups for this release, man!
