2nd Exit consists of London-based artists Alfa Mist and Lester Duval. Their new EP Tangent consists of 4 tracks, full of smooth, soulful boom-bap beats and stellar verses throughout.
“Tangent” features a fantastic beat, with eerie keys throughout and stellar rhymes from both that are smooth over the soulful beat. “Stable Eyes” features Barney Artist in another slow and darker sounding instrumental thanks to the keys throughout the track. Introspective lyricism complements the track brilliantly. “Troubled Land” features groovy guitar leads and keys that produce more of an angelic, beautiful vibe, with personal lyrics about love and self improvement. “Understand” is a beautiful track with lyrics of youth, relationships and growth. The percussion and keys throughout make it a wonderful closer to this stellar project. Overall, 2nd Exit have come through with a great hip-hop project, and one which needs to be celebrated for its raw, intimate sound.
