Music: Grey Killer – Californian Snow

Grey Killer is a talented producer from St. Petersburg, Russia. This is my first introduction to the talented beatmaker, despite him making music for a couple of years now and with one of my favourite labels NINETOFIVE Records. He is back with a short 2 track project titled Californian Snow, and despite its length, it’s a brilliant, upbeat record that will have a lot of replay value for me.

The first track is titled “Run Away” and features a high-tempo electronic beat with a subtle but poignant vocal sample that complements the track beautifully and adds texture to it. The dubstep influence throughout makes for an energetic, head-bob heavy track. “Waves” has a similar tempo, bringing more vocal samples to the 2-step production. The smooth, R&B and garage aesthetic to this record is brilliant and hits hard. These two tracks are a great introduction to the young producer’s catalog.

Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. I run In Search Of Media with the aim of giving a platform to independent beatmakers, rappers and talented musicians. I also hope to make this a home for music discovery, interesting film analysis, exhibition reviews and other interesting content for all of you guys to dive in to. I hope to start a podcast and documentary-style project soon. If you're looking to be a part of this creative project, please go to the contact page and drop me an email, or connect via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I also write for 'Music Is My Sanctuary.' Thanks 🙏
