Music: Toonorth – Ambedo

Oregon-based producer Toonorth has released a brand new project titled Ambedo. Having been a fan of him since his excellent album Melancholy Pt.2, this new project has been an anticipated release, and with stunning, intricate electronic compositions, it really does not disappoint!

From the guitar and bass-driven opener “Chiaroscuro” with gorgeous synths and a beat that kicks in about half way through, this track sets the tone for this album. The tone of the tracks throughout are wonderfully spiritual and meditative. The gentleness of the keys throughout “Nimbus” and the funk-laden “Isolated” are examples of the soulful nature of the tracks, which bring texture and a whole lot of beautiful tonalities. Tracks like “Foggy Road” pick up the pace with an 808s beat that slaps. The keys and softness of the closer “New Light” is a delicate end to such a mesmeric body of work. Toonorth has exceeded my expectations with this release, and it’s great seeing the talented musician grow and blossom further.
