Music: K15 & SMBD – Earth State

Jheez, the amount of talent between London based producers K15 and SMBD is ridiculous. Both of them have been going to the studio together, trying to cook something special up, and their new 7 track project Earth State is the result. It’s a lush, textured electronic release, with Jazz and House influences throughout. It’s an engaging and brilliant release.

“Dry Mango Pt.1” kicks the album off with a thick synth note that carries the energy of the track to the second, more hard-hitting track on the project “Thursday,” with it’s thick basslines and broken beat rhythms. The gorgeous electronic textures are present throughout the album such as on “Oceans” and on “Pace & Time,” where the track builds with emotive and stunning keys throughout, giving the track an ethereal aura and tone to it. There’s so much soul and beauty in the music. K15 and SMBD really did their thing on this release, bringing electronic music, hip-hop, jazz and house together beautifully.
