Legendary German beatmaker Wun Two comes through with a brand new 32-track album titled Pirata. He is known for his smooth and soulful production that takes inspiration from music from all over the world. This new release is somewhat of a concept album about Hacinto, a pirate who wanted to uncover the secrets of a mysterious island with great treasure. The whole story is narrated by Ugly God, and gives an engaging, fun narrative to a sweet and soulful release.
Overall, the project is able to emit such profound emotive moments throughout, such as on tracks like “Treasure Island” with its gorgeous keys and ethereal synths that are complemented by a hard-hitting beat that keeps your head bobbing. “A Day in the Life of a Pirate” features a soulful vocal sample that is looped with the beat and what sounds like a guitar melody that’s just beautiful. Tracks like “Float” are almost spiritual in tone, as the melody is ethereal with keys and synths that sound gorgeous over the lush and smooth production. “Jolie Rouge” is one of my favourite beats on the record, with it’s hard-hitting drums and a gorgeous guitar melody that is looped throughout the track, as well as subtle vocal samples that provide a mysticism about the track. Hacinto got his treasure, and the project ends on some uplifting moments with tracks like “Travel the World Seas,” “Sailing Home” and “Pirata – Outro.”
A great, great project from one of the most exciting beatmakers working today. Listen to Wun Two’s excellent new album Pirata and don’t forget to support! Released via Vinyl Digital.
