Mawimbi Records have established themselves as one of the most forward-thinking electronic record labels showcasing music from different parts of the world. Their newest release, Mawimbi Summer Sampler is a 4-track EP giving us an insight into some of the music being released on the label in the next few months.
Onipa’s “Maadi3” is a colourful and beautiful record that features heavy percussive grooves, fantastic guitar leads and vocals that bring such joy and happiness to the track. Ghanaian artist Zongo Abongo features on Burland’s self-titled EP, and features more percussive rhythms, incredibly soulful vocals and a thumping beat that makes it perfect for dancefloors around the world. Marot is a London-based artist who, with “Global Integration,” has released his first ever original recording. It’s an amazing, moody track that perfectly captures my imagination with a vibe that is groovy and incredibly well produced. Ritmi & Rumori, gathers musicians and producers from Senegal, Uruguay and Italy on “Wou Moundou Long,” drawing influences from dub, mbalax and electronic music. All 4 tracks are unique and bring different atmospheres throughout. Looking forward to all of these new projects, and definitely have your eyes peeled for Mawimbi Records.
