The Queen Georgia Anne Muldrow has released a brand new album titled VWETO II and it is an absolute vibe. This time focusing her efforts on production rather than vocal songwriting, the legendary musician has created an album full of soulful and incredibly textured beats that just take you on a journey from start to finish.
The futuristic tone of the first track “Almost Trendy” is a tremendous vibe, with so much funk through the hard-hitting beat and bassline that dominates it. The electronic, swirling effects make it quite an engaging, interesting listen. The keys and synth-heavy leads on “Brokenfolks” is complemented by a smooth beat and a moody tone with guitar and basslines that give the track a unique tone. It’s probably my favourite track off the album, but it doesn’t stop there. “Emo Blues” brings a darker and more sombre tone with strings and and synths again bringing it to a slower pace. The harder-hitting “Mary Lou’s Motherboard” is a terrific track with 8-bit electronic effects and a whole lot of funk that just drives the track forward. “When The Fonk Radiates” and “Wu Punk” are funky, soulful tracks near the end of the album that bring a whole lot of soul to the music.
Georgia Anne Muldrow is a legend, we all know that. But seeing her continue to release gem after gem is what makes her amazing to me, and VWETO II is proof of that. Listen to her new album below via Bandcamp and don’t forget to support! Released via Mello Music Group.
