Aura Safari are a group of talented musicians and DJs from the beautiful city of Perugia, Italy. They are Alessandro Deledda, Andrea Moretti, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni and Nicholas Iammatteo. Together they go by Aura Safari and have released their new self-titled album, one which is a beautiful representation and celebration of jazz, house and funk music.
Tracks such as “Music For The Smoking Room” features great percussion with keys and synths that provide the track with a smooth, meditative and groovy melody. “Sahara” is higher-paced, with broken-beat and house influences, as well as gorgeous keys and emphatic energy. This is translated throughout the whole projects on tracks like “The Lost Reel,” with thick basslines throughout and once again, ethereal synths that complement the tone of the record beautifully. “Saturn & Calypso” is a groove-heavy track that is acid-house and disco inspired with it’s overpowering funky beat that is just insanely addicting. “Midnight Discipline” is has a heavier beat than the other tracks on this album, but is equally as smooth with keys and saxophones wailing in the background. The album as a whole is breathtaking from start to finish, and shows the real diversity in sound and talents from these artists. Italian jazz, house, funk, broken beat etc is in good hands with Aura Safari, and I hope to hear more from them soon.
