Music: The Mauskovic Dance Band – The Mauskovic Dance Band

The Amsterdam five piece The Mauskovic Dance Band have released their eponymous debut album on Soundway Records. Combining cosmic, synth-heavy grooves with more tribal, percussive rhythms, the talented group is able to create a sound that sounds fresh and exciting.

The opening track to this new record “Drinks By The Sea” features a great percussion-heavy melody and rhythm that emit such an infectious tempo throughout not only the track but the album. Mixing elements of Afro-Caribbean grooves with New Age music and disco, the album is diverse in sound and high in tempo and energy. The compositions throughout are diverse, but the core of the groups aura is within each and every one of these tracks. “Space Drum Machine” contains a groovy and bass-heavy beat that has eclectic guitar leads and synths that provide a whole vibe for this record. The psychedelic tone on “Late Night People” is another highlight to me, with thick basslines and guitar grooves that just sound fantastic. Overall, The Mauskovic Dance Band is an excellent album by a group that are just at the start of their journey. Excited for them moving forward!
