Music: Dâm-Funk – STFU II

LA-based legendary producer and musician Dâm-Funk comes through with a brand new EP titled STFU II. Spanning 7 tracks long, the talented musician, who has been releasing music via Stones Throw for over a decade now, has crafted an album full of heavy, funky basslines and groovy rhythms that perfectly capture a tone and vibe that represents LA perfectly.

Tracks like “The Flow” and “Compos Mentis” have heavy basslines with strong synth-notes that sound as funky as ever. The sound on this album does vary throughout, with tracks like “Inhale, Exhale” being a smooth, ethereal minute of blissful synths, while the 8 minute house and electro “Deeper” brings a dance-like energy that would be perfect for dancefloors around the country. “Ladera Heights” and “On Code” end the project off with two mesmeric, bass and rhythm-driven tracks that keep the energy alive and groovy.

So overall, as with other Dâm-Funk releases, STFU II is an excellent electro-funk project which highlights and confirms yet again that the talented producer is the best at the moment. Listen to STFU II below via Spotify, and don’t forget to support! Released via Glydezone Recordings.
