Now signed to Stones Throw Records, Tel-Aviv based producer Rejoicer comes through with a terrific new project titled Heavy Smoke EP. The synth-laden project features smooth and soulful moments that capture the essence of the Israeli beat scene, which is both exciting and eclectic.
Tracks such as “Five Winds” feature a heavy beat and eerie synth notes that perfectly capture a groovy, futuristic tone to the record. “Heavy Smoke” features smooth synth leads with a soothing vocal performance by iogi. “Shibuya Zen,” features a heavy, groovy bassline as well as eerie electronic effects and odd synths throughout that are very reminiscent of music coming out of LA during the mid-2000s. “PTD” is a beautiful, angelic closer to the album with sweet, soulful synths that are complemented by subtle bassline and electronic effects sprinkled throughout the record. It really does highlight Rejoicer’s talents as a producer and how he is able to create such a plethora of sounds within a cohesive body of work.
