Music: MeaKoom & Bare Beats – Mi

London-based singer/songwriter MeaKoom comes through with a brand new album titled Mi. Produced by the talented Bare Beats, he is able to craft a drum-heavy, smooth and soulful soundscape for MeaKoom to sing angelically on this new album.

It’s a short project, spanning only 9 tracks long and just under 29 minutes long. The quality of music however on this album, is just incredible. Bare Beats’ hypnotic slow-paced hip-hop inspired production is stellar throughout, sampling old soul gems and allowing for MeaKoom to really shine vocally throughout the album. And just wow… her voice is hypnotic. There is a maturity in her tone and vocal performances throughout that make her captivating to listen to. She talks about self-growth and love among other things. Highlights for me include “Burning Eyes,” “Howard,” “The End” and “Flying Carpet.” This is an excellent album so a big shoutout to both MeaKoom and Bare Beats for this release!
